Pardo Ortega served as president of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) in Camagüey province and was a reporter for Adelante newspaper.

The journalist had a long career as a leader of student organizations.

She won several awards and acknowledgements, including the Distinction for the Foundation of the village of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, currently Camagüey.
