The two presidents reviewed progress on bilateral cooperation issues in monitoring the recent high-level exchanges between the two nations, according to a note released Monday by the New Delhi-based Foreign Ministry.
Modi and Putin assessed the progress in bilateral relations as positive and agreed to develop a roadmap for future initiatives to further strengthen the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The Indian Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for the Russian presidency of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in 2024 and assured New Delhi’s full support.
Similarly, the two leaders agreed to stay in touch.
As part of the high-level exchanges, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar had a busy schedule in Russia in late December, including meetings with President Vladimir Putin, his counterpart Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
During the meetings, Jaishankar had a wide-ranging exchange of views on bilateral cooperation in trade and economy, energy, defense, connectivity, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between regions of the two countries.
The New Delhi representative also shared with the Moscow authorities perspectives on global and regional developments, including multilateral cooperation.
