French leader demands an end to the blockade against Cuba

Paris, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The National Secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF) Fabien Roussel reiterated on Monday his demand for the end of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, a policy he described as inhumane.

As he disclosed his traditional message of good wishes for the New Year from the organization’s headquarters in this capital, the leader questioned the fact that Cuba is still under that blockade, imposed by Washington over six decades ago.

In 2023, the PCF launched an initiative of political and economic support for Cuba in view of the blockade.

In his speech to parliamentarians and communist authorities, foreign diplomats and other guests, Roussel lamented the suffering of many peoples and the fact that no continent escapes crises and conflicts.

Violence, terrorism, revenge and war crimes have become the sole arbiters of relations among countries, in a dangerous escalation, the legislator and former presidential candidate warned.

According to the communist leader, France has a unique voice to contribute for its values of equality among peoples and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

With the third largest diplomatic representation network in the world, France should leverage it in the service of peace and to think over a fairer and more representative collective security system, he stressed.
