Denmark’s Parliament received new King Frederick X

Copenhagen, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The new king of Denmark, Frederick X, participated in a ceremony in Parliament, which is considered an endorsement of the institution to the monarch, who was ascended to the throne on Sunday after the abdication of his mother, Margaret II. The outgoing queen communicated her decision in her traditional December speech, after 52 years at the head of the Royal House and, on Sunday, the coronation of her son was attended by 300,000 people in the streets of this capital.

The ceremony took place on Monday in the Folketinget, Denmark’s unicameral Parliament, and during the day its president, Soren Gade, proclaimed “long life to His Majesty, King Frederick X.”

On behalf of the newly crowned King, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen read a speech on the monarch’s dedication to the service of his country, since Danish tradition determines that only the members of this legislative body can speak before the House.
