The statement added that of the total number of fatal victims, 33 have been reliably identified, while 23 have already been handed over to their families. It added that the technical-scientific work continues to identify all the dead people in the accident.
After the tragedy on the Quibdó-Medellín road, Colombian President Gustavo Petro declared a state of emergency due to natural disasters in the area.
He made the decision after flying over the road buried by a landslide, in the northwestern department of Chocó, and explained that it implies the delivery of resources for mitigation works.
“We want to ensure that the investment is not only for asphalt or rigid cement, but for the safety of the road, which is precisely that these mountains are not risky for people who travel through the area,” he said in statements to the press.
