During his official visit to Cairo, the Foreign Minister conveyed the cordial greetings of President Xi Jinping and highlighted that the firm mutual trust is the “solidest strategic guarantee” for the ties between the two countries.
According to Wang Yi, bilateral relations have reached the “best level” in the history of these nations. He also praised Egypt for its positive response to the IFR and assured that Beijing will be a long-term and reliable strategic partner in the development and revitalization of Egypt.
President al-Sisi congratulated China on its achievements and recognized Beijing’s increasingly important role in international affairs. He also reiterated his commitment to the one-China principle, expressed gratitude for the support for Egypt’s economic and social development, and particularly highlighted the results achieved by the Belt and Road Initiative.
Both dignitaries addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip and agreed on the urgent need for a ceasefire and cessation of violence.
The Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit also included talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the signing of the second five-year implementation scheme of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.
The foreign minister began a tour in Egypt that will take him to three other African countries with the intention of strengthening diplomatic ties and addressing key regional issues.
