The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted the flight-test of the New Generation Akash missile at a facility in Chandipur, off the Odisha coast, on Friday against a high-speed unmanned aerial target at a very low altitude, which was destroyed, the military institution reported.

The test validated the complete weapon system’s functionality, consisting of the missile with a radio frequency seeker, launcher, multi-function radar and command, control, and communication system, all developed in India.

Senior officials from DRDO, Indian Air Force, and military industries confirmed the effectiveness of the new weapon with data captured by several radars, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems, according to the official press release.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated those upgrading India’s weaponry, especially the industry, for those results.

Singh stated that the successful development of the system will further enhance the country’s air defense capabilities.
