India and Cuba celebrate 64 years of relations

New Delhi, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and India highlighted the resumption of political dialogue, following the Covid-19 health emergency, as a leading element within the close relations between the two nations on their 64th anniversary on Friday.

Representatives of both countries highlighted this fundamental step in strengthening bilateral relations during a lunch hosted by Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi in honor of Cuban Ambassador Alejandro Simancas, who is concluding his mission in this nation.

On her social media, Lekhi described Simancas’ contribution to deepening bilateral relations as valuable and wished him success in his future projects.

Representatives from Chile, Guatemala, and Jamaica, among other Latin American countries, also attended the meeting.

India and Cuba enjoy excellent bilateral relations and have been traditionally warm and friendly.

India was among the first countries to extend recognition to the new Cuban government following the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
