Deaths were confirmed in 15 of the 19 Uruguayan departments, with Paysandú (13), Río Negro (9) and San José (10) having the most deaths.
199 Horses with clinical symptoms were recovered and those recovering sums 187, according to the report, which puts the percentage of horses killed by encephalitis at 0,04%. The national registry for 2023 closed with an equine population of 399,307 horses.
