The Ecuadorian president reported this Thursday that 38 countries offered support due to the security crisis.
“We need military support in number of soldiers, intelligence, as well as artillery and equipment,” the president admitted in an interview with the FM Mundo radio station.
Local media echoed the statement by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, who announced the upcoming visit of senior US officials to Ecuador in the “coming weeks.”
Miller said that intelligence sharing, cooperation to combat malicious cyber activity, and assistance with the implementation of prison reforms will increase.
