Appeals against anti-protest protocol in Argentina to be analyzed

Buenos Aires, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) The National Court of Appeals for Federal Administrative Disputes authorized the analysis of appeals filed against an anti-protest protocol implemented by the Argentine Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, the newspaper Página 12 reported.

According to this newspaper, the legislator of this capital city for the Frente de Izquierda María Celeste Fierro, the Asociación de Trabajadores del Estado and Periodistas Argentinas went to the Court to express their rejection of the Government’s measures and described as unconstitutional the actions against social and union organizations.

They also pointed out that the protocol “criminalizes the occupation of public space in any form of peaceful demonstration, thus limiting the rights of assembly, of petitioning the authorities and freedom of expression”.

Judges Sergio Fernandez and Carlos Grecco decided to enable the debate during the judicial fair on the grounds that there are certain and imminent risks of violations and criminalization of the protest.

On December 14, Bullrich announced that the four federal forces of this nation (the Gendarmerie, the Naval Prefecture, the Airport Security Police and the Federal Police) will intervene in the face of cuts, and partial or total blockades of streets and public places.
