By replying to a question, the Ecuadorian leader granted, “Let him turn himself in if he wants to, no one is preventing him from doing so.”
Colon Pico, who broke away on Monday from the Riobamba prison, is accused by the Prosecutor’s Office of orchestrating a plan to attempt against Attorney General Diana Salazar´s life, in addition to being deeply involved in the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio on August 9, 2023.
During his statements to the media, Noboa pointed out that the 178 penitentiary officials that are being held as hostages in several domestic prisons are still alive, and assured they are doing what it takes to rescue them. Regarding the prison situation, he revealed his government continues to repatriate foreign inmates.
