The export will be conducted as part of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Nicaragua and China inked past August and came into force as of January 1st.
According to the Chair Executive Officer of the cooperative Luis Beltran, Nicaragua opened this FTA door which gives them the chance to diversify and have better prices, so they are willing to place most of their production in the Chinese market.
Beltran praised Nicaragua´s support for the construction of the storage center that guarantees better conditions to store coffee output (around 7,000 and 8,000 tons).
