The state news agency KCNA reported today that Kim, who is also supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army (KPA), reviewed the technical condition of the factories and the fulfillment of missions entrusted to them by the 8th Congress of the WPK and the 7th Enlarged Meeting of the Party’s Central Military Commission.
In this regard, he said, it is necessary to continue to innovate and apply new technologies in the production of armaments as a contribution to strengthening the country’s defense potential.
Kim said that this task is the DPRK’s top priority amid hostility from south Korea and clarified that although Pyongyang does not intend to be the one to start a war on the Korean Peninsula, it will respond to any aggression with ‘overwhelming force’.
