In this regard, President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed the urgency for the international community to speed up efforts to stop the massacre of the Zionist government of Israel against the Palestinians.
On X, Díaz-Canel informed that Cuba, in a debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), condemned the repeated use of the veto by the United States at the Security Council of that international body to prevent an end to the indiscriminate slaughter.
On the same social platform, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez expressed Cuba’s denouncement of the abusive use of the US veto against the resolutions presented to achieve an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Speaking at the UNGA on Tuesday, First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver rejected Washington’s support for its main ally in the Middle East and considered the ceasefire as a priority to stop Israel’s genocide.
Peñalver, who is also the Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations, said that nothing justifies the collective punishment to which the Palestinian people are being subjected in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws.
He recalled the urgent need to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to this conflict by establishing two States.
The Israeli aggression that started on October 7, 2023, has so far killed some 23,000 Palestinians, displaced 85 percent of the population, and provoked a severe humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, the international community faces severe obstacles in providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
