Argentine cultural movement rejects government measures

Cacerolazo
Buenos Aires, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Unidos por la Cultura ("United for Culture") movement will hold demonstrations in several cities in Argentina to express their rejection of the measures of the Government of Javier Milei.

According to the movement, artists, workers, teachers, and students of various disciplines will participate in a national protest starting at 6:00 p.m. local time. One of the slogans of the mobilizations will be “Down with Milei’s chainsaw!”

The protests were also convened to repudiate an anti-protest protocol implemented by Security Minister Patricia Bullrich.

“Those of us who work in culture, cinema, television, theater, dance, music, popular libraries, community and cooperative media, express our most energetic repudiation of the attempt to subjugate our rights,” the movement said in a statement.

On December 20th, the President announced a decree of necessity and urgency that provides for the dismantling of more than 300 regulations, including the laws on rent, supply, land, industrial and commercial promotion.
