Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, meeting to discuss the use of the U.S. veto in the Security Council, the diplomat deemed the ongoing conflict as “a war of atrocities.”
“I represent a people massacred, with families killed in their entirety, men and women shot in the streets, thousands kidnapped, tortured and humiliated, children murdered, amputated, orphaned, scarred for life,” Mansour lamented.
The Palestinian representative questioned the U.S. veto of the instruments presented to call for an end to the conflict and Israel’s position in claiming its right to defense as a reason for its aggression.
The attack on Palestinians in Gaza demonstrates how vital it is to support an immediate ceasefire as the only moral, legitimate and responsible position, the diplomat remarked.
“The interests and goals of this extremist Israeli government are clear and incompatible with the interests and goals of any country that supports international law and peace,” Mansour granted.
