Dominican gov’t to print over 17 million ballots for elections

Santo Domingo, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) Dominican Government will print over 17 million ballots for municipal elections on February 18, which are currently in the process of verification.

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) detailed that 17.8 million ballots will be printed, practically double the number of voters, which will be distributed among all the polling stations in case of possible incidents.

The Director of Elections Mario Nuñez explained that from January 5th to 10th, the JCE and parties aim at revising ballots; afterwards, they will be delivered to Corripio, the company in charge of their printing as of next week.

Nuñez pointed out that 8,105,151 Dominicans are summoned to the polls on February 18, when 2,292 elective positions will be disputed, some 158 city halls, 1,164 city councils, 235 municipal directorates and 735 spokespersons.
