In a statement, the self-proclaimed Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for an attack with unmanned aerial vehicles against a Pentagon enclave near the Rukban camp, located in the region of Tanef, in eastern Syria, near the border with Jordan and Iraq.
A similar attack was perpetrated against Washington’s largest enclave established in the Al-Omar oil field in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ezzor.
According to the statement, the aforementioned entity assured that these bombings are part of its resistance-based approach to the US occupying forces in Iraq and the region, and in response to the Zionist entity’s massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
A U.S. officer recently revealed to the Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen television network that troops have been attacked on more than 120 occasions.
Washington maintains about 15 bases on Syrian territory without the consent of the Damascus government, nor the approval of the United Nations, mostly focused on the oil fields.
Meanwhile, the US presence in Tanef seeks to cut off communication between Syria, Iraq and Iran, countries which form the axis of resistance against the United States in the region.
Syria has repeatedly denounced this presence, which it described as an occupation, and asserted that the actions of the US forces in the national territory encourage terrorist activities, aiming at destabilize the country and to plunder its wealth.
