UNESCO congrats Cuba on Jan. 1 National Holiday

Paris, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) UNESCO on Thursday congratulated Cuba on Jan. 1 national holiday and reaffirmed its willingness to strengthen ties.

In a message, Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah, UNESCO´s Deputy Director-General of Priority Africa and External Relations, availed himself of this opportunity to extent his warm greetings on behalf of the multilateral organization to the Cuban government and people.

Ohemeng-Boamah conveyed the congratulations through Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO Yahima Esquivel who thanked the message sent and stressed her country’s commitment to UNESCO´s values.

Ohemeng-Boamah expressed her fervent wish that the cooperation ties that have always existed between the parties continue to be strengthened for mutual benefit, particularly in relation to the promotion of digital culture and education, as well as the protection of intangible heritage.

Likewise, he stated that his area of competence is at Cuba’s disposal to highlight the significance of interconnection between Global Priority Africa, the African Diaspora and Afro-descendants regionally in order to promote cultural diversity, in line with the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
