The Havana Reporter wishes all readers a prosperous and happy 2024 and starts this year’s edition with articles on the Cuban Parliament sessions, which made an assessment of last year’s balance and discussed the steps to be taken to make progress in the solution of the economic difficulties the country faces.
This edition also features celebrations on the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, on January 1st, 1959, in addition to perspectives of the tourism sector; the visit the managing board of the U.S. Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center paid to Havana on occasion of the 5th anniversary of the biotechnology joint venture Innovative Immunotherapy Alliance SA (IIA); results of COP28 and Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel’s visit to Arab countries.
Cultural topics such as the Latin American International Film Festival; Alicia Alonso’s 80th debut in the classic Giselle; the declaration of the practice of the Bolero in Cuba and Mexico as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, are also included in this edition.
Other topics of interest are the holding, this month, of the new Operation Truth, organized by the Prensa Latina news agency on the 65th anniversary of Operation Truth, a mass press conference summoned by leader Fidel Castro to talk to the International press about the Revolution that had just triumphed.
