Chilean senator: keeping Cuba in terrorist list is nonsense

Santiago de Chile, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) Chilean Senator Daniel Núñez rejected the decision of the government of the United States to keep Cuba in the list of states sponsors of terrorism and condemned the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.

“(The fact) that Cuba is facing sanctions, made worse by the inclusion in the list of countries accused of promoting terrorism is a nonsense, something that has no logic whatsoever,” Núñez declared to Prensa Latina.

“Cuba has remained for over 60 years under the blockade of the United States, and its permanence in that list creates additional obstacles for the acquisition of food and medicine, in addition to the fact that financial institutions, companies and investors doubt when they establish relations with the country.”

The parliamentarian recalled the enormous aid given by Cuba to the peoples of America Latina and its attitude of solidarity, manifested whenever they have suffered earthquakes, hurricanes and other calamities.

Núñez also spoke of the extermination, the genocide of a people, committed by Israel in occupied Palestine. “What is happening in Gaza and the West Bank is painful, it removes the bases of the essence of humanity,” he denounced, and stated that the footage spread over social networks show the massacre being unleashed there, something unseen since the world wars.

“It is indignant that the international community does not react with more strength. One would expect the United Nations, the Security Council to take concrete action,” he said.

The Senator valued the decision of the South African government of denouncing Israel before the International Justice Court for the genocide against a people. “It is a concrete measure that allows denouncing before the world what is happening and also attempting as soon as possible to achieve the end of the occupation and the bombings against Palestine,” he said.
