Uruguay’s trade union central, the Pit-Cnt, described it as “a historic deed that marked a milestone in the struggle for dignity, self-determination and social justice”.
“Cuba continues to demonstrate that we are not meant to be submissive to the powerful of the world”, adds the post of the trade union grouping in the social network X.
The March 26th Movement, a left-wing political organization that is part of the Popular Unity party, made a similar pronouncement. Stop the criminal blockade of the United States against Cuba,” reads the message.
Earlier the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Uruguay had celebrated the Cuban anniversary and reiterated its solidarity in a message to the Communist Party of Cuba.
The day before, an article in the magazine Caras y Caretas considered that the Caribbean island has overcome numerous difficulties and demonstrated that sovereignty and self-determination can be maintained.
The text praised the social work of the Cuban revolutionary process, particularly in the areas of education and public health.
