According to a report from the Ministry of Defense, Israeli army launched two rounds of missiles against the Southern Region around 11:05 p.m. local time. The air defense managed to shoot down most of the missiles, while the rest caused only material damage.
Military sources stated that the attack destroyed an early warning radar station on Tal Sawan Mountain in Sweida province, near the border with Jordan. According to them, the objective of the attacks against the radar facilities and air defense batteries is to facilitate the infiltration of Israeli aircraft into the Tanef area controlled by the US forces, in order to launch attacks against the allied militias of Damascus in the province of Deir Ezzor and in the Al-Badieh region in eastern Syria.
Two and a half hours after the first attack, Israeli jet fighters launched an attack from Lebanese airspace. According to the Ministry of Defense, the attack was aimed at positions in the vicinity of the capital, and there was no loss of life.
Syrian air defense sources indicated that prior to these two attacks, a US Air Force RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance drone flew for almost the entire day off the coasts of Syria and Lebanon at an altitude of over 16 km while carrying out spying tasks towards the Syrian provinces of Damascus, Homs and Hama.
