“It is urgent to stop the genocide, ethnic cleansing and other crimes against humanity that Israel commits in the Gaza Strip,” said the Arab Parliament in its final statement after the end of a meeting on the situation in Palestine.
The declaration reiterates the rejection of the displacement of the population of the Strip in all its forms, and urges allowing their return to their homes; it also calls on the United Nations General Assembly to hold a special period of sessions under the motto “United for peace” to stop the fighting in the Strip and protect the Palestinians.
The Arab Parliament criticized the United States for vetoing several resolutions in the UN Security Council that seek to end the conflict. “It is necessary to request an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the legal aspects of the aggression against Gaza, with regard to war crimes and massacres committed against the Palestinian people,” it stressed.
It also denounced the arrests of over 4,800 citizens in the West Bank since October 7th, and torture in Israeli prisons.
The entity urged to strengthen the role and status of the Palestine Liberation Organization by pointing out that it is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian People.
