The Communication Secretariat of the Presidency reported that the president will attend the meeting this Thursday at 10:00, local time, in which authorities of the neighborhood will participate.
The Daule canton is suffering from attacks, extortions and other crimes committed mostly by criminal gangs associated with drug trafficking, despite military and police operations. Given this situation, which affects the entire province and the coastal area of the country, Government Minister Mónica Palencia assured that the so-called Security Bloc is operating in the most conflictive areas.
According to the minister, the operation is part of Plan Fénix, a security strategy presented by Noboa to reduce high crime rates and fight organized crime.
“The Security Bloc is the link between the presidency, the Armed Forces and the Police and we continue to articulate actions. We are already in all the hot spots or zones,” Palencia said in statements to the Teleamazonas channel, and commented that Los Ríos, Guayas, Manabí and Esmeraldas are among the four most troublesome and violent provinces in the nation.
Official data indicates that Ecuador will close 2023 with a record of more than seven thousand violent deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants, a figure that places it among the most dangerous countries in Latin America and the world.
