The guerrilla action that culminated with the liberation of the city, in central Cuba, on January 1, 1959, was celebrated by the workers of the Celestino Hernández Oncological Hospital, where several new services were launched.

The work, which cost nearly five million pesos, will optimize oncology and nursing services for a very sensitive segment of the population.

At the Ernesto Che Guevara Heart Center, the Sterilization Center was completely repaired, as well as the intensive care unit A and the operating room, which were renovated. A system of water tanks was installed to guarantee the supply of water for its good performance.

Dr. Jesús Satorre, director of the institution, said that the hospital provides services to patients with cardiovascular conditions in central Cuba.

At the Mariana Grajales Maternity Hospital, the Genetics consultation was launched with the operation of high-end ultrasound equipment, while several microscopes were recovered.

For its part, at the Manuel Ascunce pedagogical school, with an enrollment of 1,000 boarding students, tower B was completely repaired, while workers benefited from the construction of a Children’s House named Retoños de Manuel, where 18 children will initially be taken care of.
