Justicialista Party rejects measures of the Argentine Government

Argentina-Partido-Justicialista
Buenos Aires, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) The Justicialist Party (PJ) today rejected a package of laws sent by President Javier Milei to Congress, considering it overwhelms acquired rights and condemns Argentines to a deeper crisis.

In a statement, the PJ warned that said project “deepens and expands the unconstitutional decree of necessity and urgency (DNU) 70/2023 that establishes a profound deregulation of the economy, repeals multiple labor laws and paves the way for the privatization of public enterprises”.

This training warns that the Government’s measures “aggravate the problems of citizens, by imposing a program of labor, tax and environmental flexibility that has already been applied at other times in history and caused enormous social tragedies.”

“The president wants to appropriate the powers of the Legislature, trampling the National Constitution and the division of powers. Likewise, he reduces the representation of the provinces in Congress, destroying gender parity and the multiplicity of voices,” the text points out.

He points out that the assets of all Argentines are put up for sale through privatization and the authorization of the Government to go into debt without the need to consult deputies and senators.

It also justifies the dismissal of thousands of public sector workers, who currently support essential policies to guarantee rights and allows the entry of foreign troops into the country without the authorization of Congress, denounces the PJ.

On the other hand, it criticizes the transfer of the assets of the Guarantee and Sustainability Fund of the National Social Security Administration to the National Treasury and the elimination of the retirement formula to establish discretionary increases by decree.

The package of laws criminalizes social protest, limits the right to strike, aggravates penalties for citizens who participate in demonstrations and establishes the possibility of arresting those who organize meetings of three or more people, the statement warns.

These measures are an encroachment on democratic rights that are stipulated in international treaties and would imply reinstating the state of siege in our country. Far from representing order, this would lead to social chaos, he asserts.

The result of their application will not be different from what we already experience with recipes that continually fail and that will only achieve the destruction of employment and small and medium-sized businesses, the loss of sovereignty over our territory and natural assets, he concluded.
