All the words of thanks and gratitude are not enough to praise the noble position of the Cuban people and Government and their public condemnation of the genocide being committed in Gaza, journalist Kamal Gaballa wrote in the newspaper.
Gaballa quoted recent statements by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on his X account (formerly Twitter), who wrote, “The genocide in Gaza, perpetrated by terrorist Israel, is an afront to humanity.”
The columnist noted that on November 23, the Cuban president, wearing a kufiya (the traditional Palestinian scarf), led a march of tens of thousands of Cubans in Havana in support of the inhabitants of the occupied territories and in rejection of the crimes committed by Israel and the support from the United States for its ally.
Gaballa indicated that a week ago, the Cuban Parliament unanimously approved a declaration in favor of the Palestinian cause and condemned Israel’s violations. Cuban legislators also questioned Washington’s responsibility and complicity in this genocide by vetoing resolutions at the United Nations Security Council, he explained.
Cuba’s stance of solidarity with the Palestinian cause is not new nor did it appear suddenly, I was able to verify it with my own eyes during my first visit to Cuba in 2006, which coincided with Israel’s aggression against southern Lebanon, he noted.
