In statements to Radio Centro, Palencia noted that they have talked with companies from Israel, Mexico and El Salvador, which have proposed financing plans to undertake the works.
She added that the new prisons might be located in the provinces of Pastaza and Santa Elena.
However, President Daniel Noboa said recently that among the locations would also be eastern Ecuador and Manabi.
Previously, Palencia had mentioned that the main problem for the construction of the prisons was the financing; however, the president noted that 70 million dollars a year are required for the penitentiary system to function properly.
