Lula signed a cybersecurity policy decree in Brazil

Brasilia, Dec 27 (Prensa Latina) President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a decree that establishes the National Cybersecurity Policy (PNCiber), since Brazil is today considered one of the most attacked countries in virtual environments.

Some of its objectives are to promote cybersecurity in the country and strengthen diligent action, in addition to contributing to the fight against crimes related to the sector.

Such a measure was adopted after several authorities were the target of attacks by hackers on social networks, such as the first lady Rosângela da Silva, better known as Janja.

Published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Union, the decree establishes that the PNCiber will be made up of representatives of the government, civil society, scientific institutions and entities from the business sector.

The board will meet quarterly and the executive secretary will be the responsibility of the Institutional Security Cabinet.

The decree proposes updates to the national policy, strategy and plan, and suggests collaborative actions for the development of international technical cooperation in cybersecurity.

Likewise, the group will promote action in cyberspace, especially in relation to children and adolescents, in addition to technical and professional training in cybersecurity within society.

It will promote scientific research, technological development and innovation activities related to the area.

In turn, it must increase coordinated action and the exchange of information in cybersecurity between the Three Powers of the State, federal entities, the private sector and society.

Likewise, evaluate and recommend measures to strengthen cybersecurity and formulate responses to incidents.

Internet attacks are attempts by criminals, known as hackers, to damage or destroy a network of systems. These breaches can cause sensitive data to be stolen or exposed, which can lead to identity theft and extortion of the data subject.

The term hacker is popularly used to define computer experts who use high knowledge to commit cybercrimes.

However, according to experts, this definition is not totally correct, since these specialists have deep knowledge of computers and information technology, and work developing and modifying computer software and hardware, not necessarily to commit a crime.
