The event was convened by the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) of Cuba and will serve as a favorable setting to discuss the responsibilities of Higher Education in the evolution of nations, mainly in the economic, sociocultural and environmental spheres.

According to the call, the event will be organized around seven symposiums, in which Workshops and Special Activities are grouped, and will include in its scientific program forums related to the Sustainable Development Goals and their relationship with higher education.

It will also address the future of Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as matters related to knowledge, innovation and sustainable territorial development.

A meeting of ministers and authorities of Higher Education is also planned.

This meeting will serve to reinforce the links with society in order to find more effective and innovative solutions to the problems of each country and in this way guarantee inclusive and quality education, promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The call endorses higher education as a public and social good, a universal human right, and a duty of the States.
