To date, the Government announced that it is organizing an event, to be attended by heads of the Three Powers, to commemorate the anniversary of the date on which Brazil suffered a coup attempt.
In this context, all efforts are concentrated to avoid an episode similar to that of 2023, when the National Congress, the Planalto Palace (seat of the Executive Branch) and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) were attacked by radical followers of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
“Brazil is a free, democratic country. Demonstrations are normal. What we have monitored are threats, attacks on institutions,” Cappelli stressed.
He commented that “there is nothing to worry about so far. Technical meetings will be held until January 4, when the security plan for January 8 will be signed”, he confirmed.
