In a post on Instagram, Vucic wrote that the meeting covered regional and global issues and confirmed the intention to maintain good relations with Russia.
The meeting took place after opposition demonstrators tried to break into Belgrade City Hall.
After the events, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic thanked the Russian special services on the Hit Tvit program on the local channel TV Pink for their warning about the riots.
We had information from the services that warned about this. First of all, the Russian security service also provided us with that information, local media quoted Brnabic.
I can only say thank you, perhaps people in the West will not like this, but this afternoon I have a special feeling that it is important to act in defense of Serbia and thank the Russian special services.
Any efforts to break into the institutions is dramatic and shows the intention to use violence to change the people’s electoral will, added the head of Government, who compared the political climate in her country to the coup d’état in Ukraine.
During the election campaign I warned about the growth of hatred and violence (…) They do not care about the campaign, the elections and the results (…) their only intention is the violent destabilization of Serbia, she stressed.
