New SU6849 flight to operate from Moscow to Havana

Moscow, Dec 24 (Prensa Latina) Moscow and Havana will be connected afresh by air after the Rossiya Airlines´ new SU6849 flight departure from Sheremetyevo International Airport to Havana.

After the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine and as a consequence of sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, Moscow and Havana were forced to called off regular and charter flights.

It was not till past July 1 these operations were again reopened by Nordwind Airline, but to date only to Cuba’s Varadero and Cayo Coco resorts.

Recently, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernishenko detailed that thanks to the resumption of those flights, the Russia-to-Cuba tourist flow surged 3.5 times from January to October.

“Over the past year, we have achieved significant successes with our Cuban friends. First of all, there was a significant increase in the number of direct flights, making it possible for over 146,300 Russian tourists to visit Cuba,” Chernishenko specified, while arguing that with the departure of the first flight to Havana on December 24, there would be about 13 direct weekly flight frequencies to different Cuban destinations.
