“The people in Gaza are people not pieces on a chessboard. Many have already been displaced several times,” Thomas White, head in the coastal enclave of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), posted on X.

The Israeli Army is simply ordering people to move to areas where airstrikes are ongoing, no place is safe, the official stressed.

Thomas White criticized the evacuation orders to Deir al Balah, after recalling that Gaza is already overwhelmed by displaced people from other regions of the coastal territory.

On Friday, Al Jazeera television also denounced Israeli troops for pushing “most of the sieged 2.3 million inhabitants into a smaller area as it expands its bombings.”
