According to the Higher Institute of Health (ISS)´s latest report, 425 people died during last week, accounting for a rise of 34.5% compared to 316 in the previous seven days.
Transmissibility index (Rt), based on hospitalizations, is below the epidemic threshold.
Francesco Vaia, director-general of Prevention at the Ministry of Health, said that they “confirm a substantial stabilization of the epidemic curve, and also indicated that, especially in the regions that most promote the vaccination campaign, the trend is decreasing”.
Weekly incidence remained essentially stable in all age groups, with an average of 59 years among those diagnosed as SARS-CoV-2 positive, and with a re-infection percentage of 46%, while the age group with highest rate was that of people aging over 90.
234,90 people are still reported as positive for the disease, 226,454 of them are at-home screening, while 7,360 remain hospitalized and 276 in ICUs.
