The first vice president of the Parliament, Pedro Infante, reported on the results of the work in the ending year, and highlighted the unanimous approval of the referendum held on December 3rd, in which more than 10.5 million people came to vote.
In the current period, the parliamentarians approved agreements related to the international tour and participation of President Nicolás Maduro in the G77 plus China Summit between September 7th and 17th in Havana, Cuba; and the support for the Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro Liberation Operation (prison organization); the refusing agreement for the insolent statements made by the United States Department of State in flagrant aggression of the sacred rights of Venezuela over the Essequibo territory; and the rejection of the decision of the European Union to extend its sanctions against Venezuela.
During the stage, the Assembly authorized the appointment of 14 ambassadors to countries such as Spain, Brazil, Colombia, India, Cuba, Nigeria, France, Vietnam, Türkiye, Hungary, Uruguay, Mali, Burkina Faso, Paraguay, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda.
This year, Venezuelan legislators installed 29 Parliamentary Friendship Groups with the fundamental objective of continuing to consolidate ties with the countries and parliaments of the world, whose number rose to 76 in the three years of legislative management.
No less important this year was the designation and swearing in by the National Assembly of the new board of directors of the National Electoral Council, which organized the referendum and will do the same next year during the presidential elections in the second half of 2024.
