Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina indicated that the radicals of the Islamic States group, Daesh in Arabic, registered on the international terrorism list, detonated a mine as the vehicles carrying soldiers were changing shifts.
Last August, a similar attack claimed the lives of at least 25 Syrian soldiers.
In Al-Badieh, Daesh extremists launch sporadic attacks against soldiers and civilians, and according to complaints from Damascus, they receive logistical support, protection and intelligence information from the American military illegally deployed in the nearby area of Tanef, in the East of the country.
According to analysts, Daesh has resorted, since its defeat in 2018, to gang warfare and attacks supported by clear intelligence instructions to wear down Syrian troops and their allies.
Syria faces a war imposed since 2011, and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, some attacks occur that Damascus attributes to groups supported from abroad to continue destabilizing the country.
