Uruguayan Gov’t presents plan for integrating migrants to society

Montevideo, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) Uruguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Omar Paganini presented a program to facilitate the insertion of migrants, who currently represent 3% of the country's population.

The Foreign Ministry, the National Migration Board and other agencies are part of the design of the National Integration Plan for Migrants, Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

The program includes issues related to access to documentation and its regularization, employment, education, health, housing, among others.

“Human mobility has been a central part of our history, and it is reflected in how our population is made up of foreigners,”in economic, social, cultural, political aspects¨, the FM deemed at the Legislative Palace.

The plan further aims at “promoting the integration and insertion of migrant workers, asylum seekers and highly qualified refugees residing in the national territory.”
