This agreement was signed by the Office of the National Authorizing Officer of the European Development Fund, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, the European Union (EU) and FAO.

The project focuses on improving the production, resilience and transformation of food systems, and is in line with Haiti’s National Policy and Strategy for Food Sovereignty, Security and Nutrition, according to the official statement .

In addition, it must have an impact on 1,444 vulnerable households that exploit irrigation systems, as well as on 32 producer associations, which use the approach of the FAO Resilience Fund, which allows strengthening the technical skills of agricultural households, the consolidation of their financial capabilities and the promotion of opportunities.

The FAO representative in Haiti, Patrick David, expressed confidence in the success of the project, stating that the initiative will contribute to improving the food situation of local communities.

For his part, the ambassador of the European Union in Haiti, Stefano Gatto, stressed the importance that this regional community attaches to food and nutritional security, and the urgency of guaranteeing that humanitarian and development aid is carried out throughout the world. , particularly in countries that are going through a crisis as acute as that of Haiti.
