During his participation, along with the President of the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, the head of the Cuban Government pointed out deficiencies and achievements of the System of Attention to Families (SAF), which essentially benefits the elderly.
Marrero criticized the state of some of those centers, the lack of good management by their administrators and attention to the elderly, despite the fact that, with the same limitations, many other establishments provide an efficient service.
In that regard, the Prime Minister urged the sector’s directors and legislators from the permanent commission for Attention to Services to demand that local governments and commerce executives in each territory, to guarantee the State’s responsibility to improve the quality of life of those people.
Marrero described as inadmissible irregularities the uncontrolled handing over of gastronomic premises to private actors who set affordable prices, while the population is left unprotected by retail trade.
