A survey by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med) highlighted that 98% of respondents said they do not consume enough food.
Meanwhile, 64% reported that they eat food that has expired in order to satisfy their needs. Euro-Med specified that the study included 1,200 people living in this beleaguered territory.
According to the survey, the inhabitants of the area live on just 1.5 liters of water per day, a tiny figure by international standards.
The survey also addressed the impact of malnutrition and lack of clean water, with 66% admitting to suffering or having suffered in the last month from intestinal diseases, diarrhea or skin rashes.
Earlier this month, that Non-Governmental Organization denounced that Israel dramatically increased its strategy to cause starvation in the Gaza Strip in an effort to deepen the difficult living conditions of Palestinians there.
“The Israeli famine war took very dangerous turns” by cutting off all food supplies to the northern half of the territory, it stressed at the time.
It also criticized “the shelling and destruction of factories, bakeries, food stores, water stations and tanks throughout the enclave”.
It recalled that before the start of the conflict, 70% of children in the Strip suffered from various health problems, including malnutrition, anemia and weakened immunity.
However, it added, the figure grew to more than 90% as a result of the unprecedented Israeli attacks.
Last Sunday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society warned that Gaza is suffering from a major famine due to lack of food.
A week ago, the World Food Program revealed that half of the territory’s population is starving and that 9 out of 10 people are unable to eat every day.
