Permanent commissions of the Cuban Parliament continue debates

Havana, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban MPs continue on Tuesday their debate in Permanent Work Commissions, prior to the start of the last session of of Parliament this year on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to this Tuesday’s program, the Minister of the Food Industry, Manuel Sobrino, is scheduled to explain the effectiveness of the measures to counteract crime, corruption and illegalities in the sector.

Preparations and projections for the 2023-2024 sugar harvest, as well as the recovery prospects for the sector, will be discussed.

For its part, the commission for Attention to Children, Adolescents and Youth will analyze the implementation of the project that serves people at risk in these age groups. The commission, which responds to the Human Development, Equity and Social Justice macroprogram, will also evaluate the main indicators of the Behavioral Schools and Homes for children without family protection.

The Health and Sports commission plans to debate the improvement of Community work, the collection of solid waste and obituary services. The members of this working group will verify the results of the implementation of the sports and physical education project, among other topics.

Part of the working day of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission will be dedicated to the strategies of the Ministries of Education and Higher Education for the prevention and confrontation of drug use at school ages. This commission plans to analyze a wide spectrum of topics, among them: the report of the state bodies to fight crimes, social indiscipline and corruption in their respective areas.

On the second and last day of work of the commissions, aspects of their internal functioning and the legislative schedule for next year will be reviewed in each case.
