Beirut, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed today that more than 64 thousand people were displaced from southern Lebanon due to persistent Israeli aggression.

According to the latest update, hostilities along the border increased significantly last week with increased use of advanced weapons and an impact on civilians.

Amid rising tensions, Israeli airstrikes in the south targeted residential areas, with shelling on the 10th and 12th of this month resulting in the destruction of homes in Aitaroun and Kfar Kila.

According to the report, on December 11 an aerial action by Tel Aviv forces in the village of Taybeh killed a local official and wounded three other Lebanese.

The following day, parts of an Israeli interceptor missile landed in the parking lot of a public school in Yater without casualties, OCHA said.

Earlier, a United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) maintenance position in southern Lebanon came under fire and the source of the fire is being verified.

In light of this event, the Unifil command publicly expressed its concern about the growing possibility of miscalculations leading to a wider conflict.

Up to December 13, Lebanon’s Public Health Ministry reported 99 dead and 463 wounded, including at least 16 civilian killed.

Since October, tension has prevailed on the southern border due to Israeli hostility and the Lebanese Resistance’s response to crimes against civilians in the country and in solidarity with Gaza.
