Arévalo spoke on Monday during a joint press conference with Dominican president Luis Abinader at the Government House.
Abinader and Arévalo agreed to work together on key issues such as climate change, economic growth, air transportation, tourism and other spheres.
Arévalo stated that Guatemala is interested in the Dominican Republic’s experience in managing public-private companies.
The Dominican dignitary stated for his part that they will seek to extend mutually advantageous commercial ties.
The Dominican president supported Arévalo in the face of attempts to destabilize the democratic process in Guatemala, where the Prosecutor’s Office seeks to annul the electoral results. “No power of the State has the right to impose itself on the absolute legitimacy that represents the freely expressed popular will,” he said.
