The Korean People’s Army (KPA) said the demonstration was an important military action aimed at making clear to the enemies the will for overwhelming retaliation and the might of the DPRK’s strategic nuclear armed forces.

According to the resolution of the Workers’ Party of Korea to neutralize the enemies’ intentional and planned military threats of a confrontational nature with a strong warning of action, the field test was witnessed by DPRK State Affairs Chairman Kim Jong Un.

The test was aimed at checking the status of the DPRK’s nuclear war deterrent force and confirming its mobility, combatability and credibility. Kim checked on the readiness status at the launching site and listened to the test plan.

After the launch, the missile flew a distance of 1,000 kilometers in 4,415 seconds, reached the maximum altitude of 6,518.2 meters and hit the target set in the international waters of the East Sea of Korea with certainty.

The DPRK Armed Forces assured that the launch did not affect the security of neighboring countries at any time.

Through the rehearsal, the combat effectiveness of the ICBM unit was evaluated and the rapid reaction capability of the DPRK’s strategic armed forces and reliability of the most powerful strategic main strike means of the military forces were confirmed once again.

The DPRK leader expressed satisfaction over the result of the training, describing it as a material demonstration of the formidable striking power of the state armed forces and the present status and reliability of the nuclear war deterrent.
