Syria condemns US blockade imposed on Cuba

Damascus, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, Bassam Sabbagh, today reiterated his country's rejection and condemnation of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.

Syria will continue to support the largest of the Antilles in the face of this unjust and criminal siege, Sabbagh said in statements to Prensa Latina and other national media during his participation in an event for the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution at a school in children of martyrs of the Syrian Armed Forces.

The official extended his warmest congratulations to the leaders and people of Cuba, on the new anniversary of the victory of the Revolution.

The performance of this ceremony, in one of the schools of sons and daughters of martyrs, highlights the importance of sacrifice in the fight for freedom, independence and the defense of the revolution.

These schools are a source of cadres and skilled people who can contribute to continuing and preserving the revolution and life, indicated the Vice Chancellor.

In similar statements, Major General Lamis Rajab, director of the schools for children of martyrs, described Syrian-Cuban relations as solid and deep and considered that the people of both countries are brothers and share a common destiny of struggle.

She praised the Caribbean nation’s position of support for Syria in its just causes and the excellent bilateral cooperation that exists in all areas.

We are honored to host a celebration, because the Cuban Revolution has great meaning not only for Cubans, but for many revolutionaries in the world, because of what it means as a victory over the hegemony of the United States, she explained.
