“Challenges facing humanity put Earth’s survival at risk, from the aftermaths of climatic conditions to the methods of war, which take us back to times and conditions that have no right to be repeated,” Mattarella pointed out during his speech at the Forum.
According to a statement released Monday, Mattarella assured, “the temptation to tear apart the multilateral system arises from the unscrupulous use of numerous practices” and often “people become hostages of the aggressive policies of their respective governments.”
Italian President acknowledged that “like any human construction, the European Union (EU) is not perfect” and referred to the need to complete the ongoing negotiations for stability and the Growth Pact. He alluded at this meeting, which is being held at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, to “coordination with our allies and with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), “aware that we must soar our strategic level.”
In relation to current world conflicts, Mattarella talked in particular about Ukraine, and reaffirmed Rome’s support for Kyiv, as well as its position against Russia.
