The DNU, published in the Official Gazette, establishes this status with respect to the generation, transportation and distribution segments of electric energy and natural gas under federal jurisdiction.
In addition, it orders the secretariat that serves the sector in the Ministry of Economy to develop and implement “a program of actions in order to establish the mechanisms for sanctioning prices under conditions of competition and free access, maintain in real terms the levels of income and cover investment needs.”
The start of the tariff review corresponding to the providers of public transportation and distribution services of electric energy and natural gas is determined, the text indicates.
Likewise, it provides for the intervention of national regulatory entities from January 1, 2024 and until the appointment of the members of the board of directors.
The above was decreed because it was considered that there is “an emergency situation that must be recognized and declared”, characterized “by the growing obsolescence of the assets of the providing companies, the insufficient adaptation to the needs of current and future demand and the deepening of the inconveniences derived from the lack of renewal of the networks and their expansion”.
The document emphasizes the review of rates and indicates that the delay in remuneration to generating, transporting and distribution companies impacts periodic and permanent maintenance plans, repair tasks and the economic resources allocated.
He points out that under the current schemes the competitiveness of production markets is not promoted.
Last week, Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced the elimination of subsidies, the devaluation of the peso, the end of public works and the reduction of transfers to the provinces, among other measures.
